This guide is will be a tool to help you stay safe on your computer, not safe from predators ect… that will be covered at a later time, but how to stay safe from infections. This guide will be a very long and drawn out process of how to avoid ‘making your computer run slow’ as so many people like to put it. The entirety of this guide will aim to cover a few basic things.
- What is the difference between Malware and Potentially Unwanted Programs (PuP’s)
- What is a virus and how to avoid it
- What is malware and how to avoid it
- What is a PUP and how to avoid it
- Signs to look out for that mean you’re infected.
I hope that when this guide is complete, it can be a resource for everyone out there, I want it to be as straightforward as possible. I won’t back my ideas and numbers up with research and statistics, but will base it on real world experience from my shop. The average person wants to know how it will directly affect them, and that is who I am writing to.
If you have any comment or questions please feel free to post a comment at the bottom of any post and I will do my best to answer them as quickly as I can. If you have suggestions please feel free to add your advice and help grow the guide.
This guide will also cover how to avoid infections, not treat them. Most consumers should not try to remove their own infections; while it is possible, it is safer to bring it into a computer shop and have them take care of it.
Stay tuned for more information! As the parts get completed we will create hyperlinks in the list above to easily take you to each section! We hope that this can be of use to many people!
